The 13th annual North Mankato Triathlon will be held on Sunday, June 27. The triathlon consists of a 1/4 mile swim, 12 mile bike and a 3.6 mile run. The race can be done as an individual or as a 3-person relay.
The race will be held at Hiniker Pond Park in North Mankato and is part of the Tri Minnesota Series. It will be chip timed by Pickle Events.
Stick around following the race to enjoy the awards ceremony and door prizes, including a grand prize valued at $500 from Erik's Bike Shop.
Race Registration
Registration is now closed. We have reached our 275-person limit. Thanks to everyone who sent in their entries!
Participants must check in and pick up their race packet from 6:30 – 7:30 am the day of the race at the pavilion in Hiniker Pond Park.
Course

- Swim — 1/4 mile

The swim portion of the race is in Hiniker Pond. From the start on the right side of the beach, swim out and around the buoys in a counterclockwise direction. Finish on the beach in front of the pavilion. Run to the transition area.
- Cycle — 12 miles

Helmets are required.
The bike portion of the race begins on Butterworth Street, then turns right onto Range Street and then an immediate right turn on Cross Street.
Continue on Cross Street and then turn right on Webster Avenue. Turn left onto Lake Street. Continue to Belgrade Avenue and turn right. Turn left on Lee Boulevard, cross over Lookout Drive onto Judson Bottom Road.
Judson Bottom Road has no shoulders. Please stay on the correct side of the road.
From Judson Bottom Road, turn right on to Rockford Road/County Road 41. The turnaround point will be 50 yards before Pleasant View Drive; a Nicollet County Sheriff's vehicle will be at the turnaround.
Return via Rockford Road and Judson Bottom Road, crossing over Lookout Drive on to Lee Boulevard. Turn right on to Belgrade Avenue, then left on to Lake Street and right onto Lakeview Avenue.
Turn left on to Sherman Street, right on Webster Avenue, left on to Cross Street, left on to Range Street, then make a quick left on to Butterworth into the Hiniker transition area.
Always stay to the right during the bike portion of the race.
- Run — 3.6 miles

The run portion of the race begins on the trail around the west end of Hiniker Pond. Turn left on West Lind Street, left onto Lake Street, left on to Lakeview Avenue, and left on to Sherman Street.
From Sherman, turn left at the Tyler Street entrance to Spring Lake Park. Run straight ahead to the path and then turn left on the path all the way around the park.
Exit the park on Tyler Street, turn left on to Sherman Street, right on to Webster Avenue (stay on the right/south side of Webster only), left on to Cross Street and left on to Range Street,
Make a quick left on to Butterworth into Hiniker Park and the finish line!
Please be aware that no streets will be closed to traffic. There will be North Mankato Police, Mankato Police, race officials, and signs along the route of the race to help with traffic and to help make this a safe and fun race.
Rules and Additional Information
Race Rules
- Fasten your race number securely to the front of your running clothes. Your number will be written on your upper right arm and right leg with permanent marker.
- Officials will check off your number as you pass certain points along the race. Please let a race official know if for some reason you will not be finishing the race.
- Round all turns in a counterclockwise direction.
- While biking, stay to the right and be aware of traffic. Officials along the route will direct you. Ambulance service will be available along the route. No drafting allowed.
- While running, stay to the left and be aware of traffic. Officials along the route will direct you. Ambulance service will be available along the route.
Additional Information
- Check-in and packet pickup will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 AM at the pavilion in Hiniker Pond Park.
- A pre-race briefing will be held at 7:50 AM.
- Competitors are required to supply their own race equipment.
- Chip timing provided by Pickle Events.
- Hiniker Pond Park has limited toilet facilities so participants are advised to come to the park prepared to race.
- If weather is questionable (i.e. rain and lightning), the race will be delayed until an "all clear" message from local authorities is received.
- Water will be available at the end of the bike course and at points along the run course.
- If you will not be able to finish the race, please tell a race official. The chip timing strap must be returned to Pickle Events.
- Participants will be started in different heats. Please be aware of your designated heat and let experienced racers to the front.
- Refreshments for racers after the finish in Hiniker Pond Park.
Awards and Results
Medals will be awarded to the first three finishers in each of the seven male and female age divisions. Medals will also be awarded to the first three team finishers.
The Awards Ceremony will be at the Hiniker Pond Park pavilion area following the race, by 11:00 AM.
Door prizes will be given away, including a grand prize valued at $500 from Erik's Bike Shop. Participants must be present to win.

Directions
Hiniker Pond Park is in North Mankato just off Highway 169 near the Best Western Hotel — watch for signs. Limited parking is available.
